The Beauty of Life;
An Essay on Rachel Carson's Essay the "The Marginal World"
There is beauty within everything. Weather it's the ocean's shore or a tiny bird , you can find beauty in the simplest creatures. Only if you are not naive will you appreciate the beauty. The only way you will find beauty is if you pay attention to the life around you.
Life is beautiful. There is always something new in life. In "The Marginal World" by Rachel Carson the theme is that life is a creation that should be admired. I feel like Carson is trying to send me a message. Shes trying to say that the life of others is usually taken for granted. As humans we tend to think that our life is the only life that needs to be focused on. The creatures around us have no severe impact on our life. All that is untrue. She expresses life around us has positive and negative affects. The fact that a deer needs to cross the street to eat could kill the human in the oncoming car. What goes on in the ocean can affect us on land. This is why we should start acting like Carson and start paying attention to the small "less important" details in life.
The most beautiful creature in my eyes is a hummingbird. Its body looks as if an artist painted on the details of the bird. The delicate beak flows from its head. Like Carson, I pay very close attention to this bird. I like to study the way it goes about in the world. Although the habitat is very different from the habitat Carson enjoys studying, they have some similarities. Like the ocean, people find it interesting to sit down a watch the birds. The ocean's interaction with the shore reminds me of the birds interaction with the sky. When the ocean glazes the sand with cold water it is painting a picture.The birds smoothly fly throughout the air, almost as if the bird is painting a picture. The beauty of the bird, like the ocean, is captured with the eye and mind.
Webster's defines beauty as "the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind." It's talking about the fact that beauty can escape something for a moment. Beauty deserts the ocean when there is a hurricane, and it also deserts the hummingbird when the hummingbird is fighting for food. I would have to disagree with websters definition, I feel that beauty is life.
