The key to success is knowledge:
An Essay on My View of the Theme of Fandolph Bourne's Essay "The Handicapped."
Knowledge is stronger than any man alive. It is something that you can use for yourself and something you can share with others. Like muscles, knowledge builds up overtime. Knowledge is something you should definitely share with others because it can help their future, and everyone around them's future.
Everyone's life has a theme. You do not usually realize your life's theme until you are older and have "seen it all". It is different for Randolph Bourne, the author of the essay, "The Handicapped". Bourne has an outtake on life that many people do not reach before death. He can tell that happiness doesn't only come from someone being kind to you, but it can come from you sharing kindness with others. The fact that he wishes to help others, although he needs help himself, amazes me. His lack of self pity is astonishing. The theme that Bourne is trying to establish in this essay is that we should share our knowledge no matter what, and do what you can before your time comes to an end. Bourne tried his best to share his knowledge. He tried to find peace within himself first. Once he realized that his looks can have a positive affect on his life, he started to educate others. He gives a clear image of what it would feel like in his position.
While reading this essay, the faint memory of my grandmother kept entering my thoughts. My grandmother, Phyllis Monroe Waite, was always helping others like Randolph Bourne. Everyone has problems, and to be able to ignore your problems and help others is a skill a lot of humans lack. Its not easy to help others when you need help yourself. My grandmother set up facilities to prevent and treat illnesses on the reservation, although she had illnesses of her own. I believe that the main reason she chose to establish the health care was because it was something that she could have used when she was growing up. If she did have this health care it could have prevented many illnesses and problems she had. Because my grandmother established the Mashantucket Health Department, she will be talked about for years. She will be remembered for her effort in helping others and preventing struggles for others, just like Bourne. The physical similarities between my grandmother and Bourne are small, but there hearts were both large.
Knowledge is something more powerful than muscles. Your knowledge can help determine what type of a person someone thinks of you as. It can also determine what mark you leave on the world. Share your knowledge, at all costs.
